TOPEX/Poseidon: Perspectives on an Ocean Planet
Propulsion Module
This image shows the TOPEX/Poseidon Propulsion Module. The Propulsion Module provides the TOPEX/Poseidon satellite with the means to make adjustments to its orbit position, and is used in certain cases to change the satellite's orientation. It is comprised of four identical Rocket Engine Modules with four thrusters each, three main hydrazine tanks, one auxiliary tank which is not visible here, and an aluminum support structure. The Propulsion Module is attached to the stern of the MMS.
